Registration Inspections

eSaftey Check / Pink Slips

What is A pink slip?

An eSafety (or pink slip) inspection report verifies your vehicle is safe and ready for the road. Most light vehicles more than 5 years old will require an eSafety check before they can be registered in NSW. Your registration renewal papers will state whether or not you need an inspection. The results of your E-Safety Check will be sent to Roads and Maritime electronically.

If your vehicle is unregistered, you are allowed to drive your vehicle in the most direct route from your residence to the automotive service centre where you will be getting the inspection done.

We highly recommend getting your green slip, contacting the local highway patrol and making a booking with us prior to leaving your residence to avoid any unwanted fines.

If your vehicle has been unregistered for a while, you have 90 days before it needs a different type of registration check known as a Blue Slip.

What if my vehicle fails the E-Safety Check?

We would issue you a Repairs Needed Report (sometimes called a white slip). This report details the parts of your vehicle that need to be repaired.

You need to have the repairs done within 14 days of the date the Repairs Need Report is issued. Repairs will need to be made Earlwood A1 Automotives or another of your choosing.

Once repairs have been carried out, you’ll need to have another eSafety Check. If you return to us, no additional fees apply. If you take the vehicle to a different eSafety Check station, you’ll be charged a new eSafety Check fee.

If we are satisfied with the quality of the repairs, we will clear the Repairs Needed Report and issue a passed eSafety Check report. You can then renew your registration.

What is a rego check?

Over the years, the name has evolved from a rego check, registration inspection, eSafety check, pink slip, or a roadworthy check. All of these names are for the same inspection. The purpose of the safety check for vehicles in NSW is to ensure all vehicles registered are completely safe and not a danger to road users. The registration standards for vehicle safety are set by RMS. It is the duty of the inspector to ensure the vehicle is roadworthy before issuing a passed an eSafety inspection certificate.
